Hip and Classic: Stone Design Trends for 2015
Whether you're looking for a fresh, new look, or a classic, timeless design, investing in stone can return significant gains in beauty, durability, and resale value. Here are some current design trends for 2015 that can be incorporated for many years to come.
Most homeowners are informed that investing in stone returns one of the biggest gains in looks, beauty, durability, and resale value. Stone lasts virtually forever with little depreciation or changes to the looks and grain of the material. Since this is such a long-term investment it’s hard to predict the future and know which design trends will be popular 30-40 years from now, after all we might be driving hover cars by then. That being said, there are some design trends for 2015 that can be incorporated for instant ROI if a person is selling their home or just looking for a fresh new look.
White on White
Whites are the most popular color in kitchen and bathroom design for 2015 including everything from cabinets to countertops to flooring. One of the top stone trends for 2015 is the white on white look, specifically with marble countertops or flooring. The grains that make marble so alluring are still present, but in a paler form for a subtle white-on-white look with some contrast. White is popular because it blends with any color or décor and especially in the kitchen or bathroom where dirt and debris become more evident to keep a healthy living space.
Linear and Random
While mosaic designs are exceedingly popular in 2015, the specific look that people are fawning over is linear with random colors. The subway tile look is very ‘in’ but with color combinations instead of the traditional two-tone looks. The linear stone looks especially classy in kitchen backsplashes or shower walls and it appears the more randomness the better. A popular trend also includes creating the mosaic with different types of materials as it creates various textures.
Basket Weave Floors
Along the same lines in the mosaic popularity is the inclusion of the basket-weaved look. These stone pieces are especially great for use in the floor to create an antiquated, yet modern look. The basket weave stone mosaics make for great design in cottages and old houses and mesh well with wood cabinets and various other designs.
A great example of making something out of nothing in a room is with the creation of an accent wall. Creating an accent wall with stone creates a focal point and spices up an area that would otherwise be quite bland. Accent walls create contrast in a room and are a relatively simple DIY project.
A big stone design trend for 2015 is a waterfall island, one where the top surface of the countertop continues down one side for a very unique look. A focal point in the kitchen in general is a great idea and doing so with stone brings some of the allure of the countertop style but in a more visible manner. For more information about our product line and their availability for some of these hot designs for 2015 please use our contact form.
